Representative David Guttenberg spoke with students and members of the Angry, Young and Poor club yesterday about speaking with politicians and getting their attention.
Guttenberg volunteered to speak with the group before going back to Juneau for the next Legislative session.
“It is good timing,” AYP member and Northern Studies student Hannah Hill said in an email.
Guttenberg’s discussion, “Autodidactic University: Civics 101,” started at 11:45 a.m. in the Multi-level Lounge in the Wood Center. After his speech, Guttenberg opened the floor for student questions.
AYP is a summer music festival that started in 2001 and has since expanded their base to an AYP club on campus.
“We hope to have an on-going dialogue with local leaders of all types because self-education is key,” Hill said.
