Arctic Day brings Alaska Dispatch News publisher to UAF

On Nov. 13 UAF will be hosting Arctic Day, a collection of events that are designed to be a celebration of the Arctic, while also explaining the importance of the Arctic region.

These events will take place around campus on Nov. 13, with a special keynote on Nov. 12 in the Davis Concert Hall at 6:30 P.M. to start it all off.

Speaking then will be Alaska Dispatch News publisher Alice Rogoff, who will be address the importance of media in shaping the Arctic.

The following day, Maj. Gen. Michael Shields will be starting that day’s events with a speech titled “The Role of the US Army in a Changing Arctic,” at 10 A.M. in the Schaible Auditorium.

Following this, at 1:15 P.M. in the Murie Building auditorium, will be a town hall with various speakers who will discuss Arctic initiatives.

Other events on Thursday include a display of research and projects about the Arctic in the Great hall from 8:30 A.M. – 12:30 P.M.
