ASUAF meets regularly to discuss the welfare of students on and off campus.

Senators present:

Lachlan Gillispie, Michael Mancill, Cordero Reid, Amanda Garner, Jonathan Quinones, Kemper Chabotte, Mitchell Davidson, Colby Freel, Kayleen Hanse, Allyssia Garcia, Mickey Zakurdaew, Austen Whitney.

Senators absent:

Scott Taylor and Zoe Rodes.

Board of Regents Meeting

Representative Courtney Enright for the Board of Regents spoke to members of the ASUAF Senate about open meetings being held Wednesday and Thursday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Butrovich in relation to the Univeristy of Alaska’s budget and the need for student input on which of two proposed budgets they find more favorable, as well as for any opinions they may have on the matter of UAF becoming a smoke (and possibly tobacco) free campus. The representative also informed the Senate that the position of student regent is currently open and reminded them to get out and vote in Tuesday’s election.

Travel Funding

The dispersal of allotted funds to clubs and ASUAF students has been agreed upon after reviewing not only the bill but the applications for said funding as well.

Parkour Training

A bill to fund a safety training workshop for members of the Parkour club and the general student body was passed after discussion over the amount of the funds to be allotted for travel expenses, as well as where these funds would come from.

Removal of Senator

Senator Scott Taylor was removed from his position as the Internal Affairs Chair, opening nominations for the position. Senator Quinones was nominated by Senator Reid, and was confirmed as the new Internal Affairs Chair.
