ASUAF Welcomes You / Getting involved

ASUAF President Nicole Carvajal / Special to the Sun Star
August 31, 2010

Hope you’ve all got your lunch packed up and your boots tied tight, because it’s back to school time. Whether it’s your first time here or you’re coming back, welcome to UAF!

ASUAF, your student government, has been working for you all summer. We have some exciting plans for this year, and we’re still working on the issues that affect your pocketbook – fighting to keep fees low, make sure tuition is affordable, and keep student wages competitive.

If you’re interested in getting involved, there are senate seats still open that can be filled by appointment. Send me an email at president@asuaf.org, or check out our website, http://asuaf.org, for more information.

We also have several student job openings that we need to fill as soon as possible. We’re looking for smart, capable students to run our government relations, organizing, and information technology departments. These jobs are posted at uakjobs.com, or you can find more information at our website.

If you have any questions or concerns, come find us – we’re in the Wood Center next to the bowling alley. Our office is a great place to grab some free coffee and tea, use the computer, or talk to a student leader about any issues you’re having with the university. We’re here to help!
