6 p.m. – Miss Representation documentary is playing for free in the Arctic Java.

It explores how mainstream media adds to the under-representation of women in influential positions by emphasizing limited and disparaging views of women.

7 p.m. – Game Night. Smash Bros. Melee Tournament starts at 7:45 p.m. In Wood Center Multilevel Lounge.

Films shown to educate about food, farming and healthy living. Film about Inupiat subsistence life in Northwest Alaska.

Wednesday 22

5:30 p.m. – The Art of Observation: Linking Science and Art. This week’s showcase in the Schaible Auditorium.

7 p.m. – Open Mic Night.  In the Arctic Java.

Thursday 23

12-2 p.m. – SpringFest kick off BBQ. On the Wood Center Upper Patio. Dance Off  at 1:05 p.m. Watermelon drop off of Gruening at 1:35 p.m..

1:10 p.m. – Music At One Ten. Student recitals in the Davis Concert Hall.

10 p.m. – Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 is playing in the Hess Rec for FREE.

5:30 p.m. – Food Film Festival in The Pub, followed by Shagg at 8 p.m. playing Funkadelic Disco.

 

Friday 24

SPRINGFEST! NO CLASSES!

6 a.m. – Case Day, breakfast beer.

 

12-4 p.m. – Mud Volleyball in the Nenana Parking Lot.

2 p.m. – BBQ at Cutler.

7:30 p.m. – “The Ashgirl” By Timberlake Wertenbaker at the Lee Salisbury Theatre.

In a big old house Ashgirl lives huddled deep in the protection of an ashy hearth. With her mother dead, and her father away, she lives with her stepmother and two stepsisters. When the invitation to the ball arrives from the Prince, Ashgirl finds the strength to go with the help of her friends, some of whom come from unexpected places. This retelling of the classic Cinderella fairy tale is like a mix of C.S. Lewis and Sondheim’s Into the Woods: an eclectic fairy tale anthology.

8 p.m. – Rapper Sammy Adams will be performing live at the SRC. DJ Spencer Lee will be opening at 8 p.m. Tickets at Wood Center front desk and online. $15 for students with Polar Express in advance and $25 for general public. $5 extra at the door.

10:30 p.m. – Club Tropic Dance in Hess Rec.

Saturday 25

9 a.m. – Student Awards Breakfast in the Wood Center Ballroom

10 a.m. – 5 p.m. – Gun Show in the Patty Center. Admission is $5.

12 p.m. – Boulder Competition at the SRC.

12 p.m. –Beach Bum 5k Run Taku Lot  $10 per entry.

2-6 p.m. Field Day at Beluga Field

12-4 p.m. – Family Day at UA Museum of the North. Free for kids 14 and under. Families are invited to become an archaeologist for the day!

1-3 p.m. – Knocker Ball at the SRC. People in large plastic bubbles playing soccer.

7 p.m. – Northern Lights String Orchestra Concert. This event will take place in the Davis Concert hall and is FREE.
