Police Blotter: February 20 – 26, 2012

Connect Floor

An 18-year-old Fairbanks man lay in the middle of Yukon Drive to try to to reconnect with a former girlfriend. An officer assisted him and police banned him from all UAF property on Feb. 20.

But Now I’m Found

Custodians reported a homeless man in buildings on Feb. 22 and police responded. They arrested a Fairbanks man, 50, for trespassing criminally in the Chapman Building. The man violated a ban from three weeks ago when police had contacted him for trespassing.

Off-road

Police cited a 30-year-old male student for failing to stop at a stop sign and nearly causing an accident. A 21-year-old man reported he drove off the road to avoid being hit by the student on Feb. 24 in the Nenana Lot.

Limitless

Police stopped a male student, 20, for speeding 54 mph at a 40 mph limit on Danby Road. He was driving with a suspended license and no insurance, and police cited him for all three offenses on Feb. 25.

No Moore Drinking

A resident assistant reported an intoxicated person in Moore Hall on Feb. 25 and police responded. Police took the male student, 18, to the Fairbanks Correctional Center, where he was put under protective custody for underage drinking.

Spray Pain-ting

A custodian reported men spray painting the west entrance of the Gruening Building on Feb. 25. Police found two of the men, one was 18 from North Pole and the other was 19 from Fairbanks. Police arrested the 18-year-old and transported him to the Fairbanks Correctional Center for underage drinking and vandalism. He was banned from campus. Police issued the 19-year-old student a subpoena for vandalism.

Need for Succeed

Police stopped a 27-year-old Fairbanks man for speeding and driving with expired registration tags. Police found he had an outstanding warrant for failing to report to jail on a previous charge. On Feb. 26, Police arrested him at the Sunrise Bagel stand on Geist Road and transported him to the Fairbanks Correctional Center.
