If you’re not familiar with the Brooklyn art mogul, you should be. London has collaborated with artists such as A$AP Rocky, Mark Ronson
and Big Boi. Most likely you’ve been listening to him for years and just didn’t know it.
With heavy electronic influences, London pushes the limits of conventional hip hop, sampling many genres to achieve ultimate dance ecstasy. London just released a new song at Coachella music festival featuring musicians from the Brooklyn based soul label Daptone Records. The song “Rio” is backed by the frequently sampled instrumental group, the Menahan Street Band who’s songs have been used by Jay-Z and Kid Cudi.
London is also known for his distinctive appearance. With attention to fashion, London has worked with luxury brands to create his clothing line “LVRS.” He has appeared in lifestyle magazines GQ and Esquire showcasing his fashion forward perspective.
The UAF Concert Board selected London for both his up-and-coming status and affordability. Like Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, it’s the right time in his career to make an Alaska debut, according to Concert Board member and KSUA Co-General Manager Brady Gross.
Don’t be fooled, this is not just another bump-and-grind Springfest rap show. This is the dance party of the year. So lace up your high tops, wear your gold chains, don your sickest sunglasses, coolest hat and get to the UAF Student Recreation Center this Saturday night.
