With the Nanooks fighting to get into the playoffs, ending a five game losing streak is a step in the right direction to keep them in a tight race for the sixth seed.

The Nanooks beat Western Oregon Wolves to put them in a three way battle between them, Montana State-Billings and Saint Martins.

“We love to win on our home court, so this was a big win for us,” head coach Cody Bench said. “We had a lot of key players out so the group that we have now has to play with a lot of heart and grit, and they did that tonight.”

Against the Wolves, the Nanooks were led by the two pronged attack by Benissa Bulaya, who had 20 points, and Kaille Skjold, who contributed with a double-double. Skjold was the Ravn Alaska Nanook player of the game with 10 points and 13 rebounds.

However, against the Saints of Saint Martin, the Nanooks turned the ball over 28 times, which crushed their efforts to make a comeback. The Nanooks almost rode on the coat-tails of Daron Mainville, who had 17 points and 6 rebounds. With the loss, this moved the Saints back into the sixth seed.
