Sun Star Picks, Feb. 23 – 29

Tuesday, February 23

Psi Chi is having their weekly meeting in Room 101H of the Gruening Building from 1-2 p.m. If you’re a psych major (like me) or even if you have an interest in psychology, it pays to go to the meeting. Psi Chi is a national honor society for psychology students, but you can attend the meeting even if your GPA isn’t quite up to par.  They won’t turn you out.  Just look at it as another opportunity to network and learn about the field. -Kyrie Long / Copy Editor

UAF Students pay $10 per credit per semester up to $120 as an athletics fee.  This entitles them to free admission to UAF Nanooks games.  The Women’s Basketball team is playing Simon Fraser University at 7 p.m. in the Patty Building.  If you haven’t seen them play this school year, now is the time; this is one of their last two games of the year. -Danny Fisher / Editor-in-Chief

This Friday at the Marlin a whole slew of punk-y bands are playing at the Marlin at 10p.m. For five bucks you can see Granddad, Starflakes, Humantanot, and Common Courtesy so it should be a wild time. If you wish to partake in the libations, keep in mind they only accept cash so be sure to swing by an ATM first. As per usual, it’s 21 and over only so if you’re not of age you can… study or something? – Molly Putman / Layout Editor

Monday, February 29

Although I strongly suspect my own Monday will be spent flailing around and tearing my hair out (mostly due to classes) my editor-in-chief informs me that recommending it to the reading public is not an acceptable entry for this week’s Sun Star calendar. So, barring that, consider getting your taxes filed today. It’s every bit as adult-like as flailing around and tearing out your hair, plus, unless you’ve really messed up your personal finances you’ll probably get a refund. As long as your taxes are simple, it’s free to do. Avoid bureaucratic scrutiny — I mean, more of it than usual. -Spencer Tordoff / Web Editor
