When it was released on November 30, 1982 by Epic Records, nobody expected Michael Jackson’s new song to rise as a hit, both domestically and internationally, and become a cross-cultural phenomenon 25 years later. “Thriller” was released, both as a single and an album, and both did well in the Billboard Hot 100, although no one could have predicted the bright ideas of Ines Markeljevic.

The rest of the conversation proceeded reminiscent of a clandestine meeting between two agents behind the iron curtain. What, you may ask, was call for such secrecy? Was it a dangerous black operation with an illegal side? A short answer would be, yes. The longer answer requires explanation, because the answer is that this black bag mission is a time-honored UAF tradition.

Masterful piano performances
Thursday night’s solo concert by Eduard Zilberkant was the best way to start off a season of music. The brilliant conductor showed the audience that his talent does not stop at conducting, but that he is a master pianist as well. This jack of all musical trades shocked and awed the crowd with his amazing passion and heart as he played on the new Yamaha grand piano that was awarded to him as the Yamaha artist.
The trials of touring punk band from Fairbanks
“Wanna tip this SUV?” asked a friendly resident of Orlando, Florida. Moments later, the Scurvies and a posse of PBR-swigging, mullet-sporting Metallica fans were overturning a Ford Bronco as a soundtrack of Queen blared from car speakers in the background. Several of the gentlemen present began trying to set the vehicle ablaze.
