Police Blotter: February 25 – March 2, 2011

UAF Police responded to an argument in Hess Village around 3 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 26. UAF Police and Alaska State Troopers arrived at the home and found both parties had sustained injuries from the dispute. Police determined the 36-year-old male was the main instigator of the argument and was arrested and booked for one count of Domestic Violence Assault.
Out for a smoke
In the early afternoon on Sunday Feb. 27, a male was taken to the Fairbanks Correctional Center for using marijuana in public. The man used the rooftop exit of the Lola Tilly Commons and pulled out a joint to start smoking. Police were contacted and he was charged with possession of marijuana.
On Friday, Feb. 25, the Pub noticed the door was damaged. Sometime between 11 p.m. and 11:30 p.m., someone kicked the pub door and caused the window to crack. The next morning, the Wood center staff contacted UAF Police. The investigation is continuing.
Hit and Run
A 2010 Dodge pickup truck was minding it’s own business, on Thursday, Feb. 24, when a vehicle hit the right rear panel of the truck. Although the driver drove away without leaving their information, the investigation is continuing as the officers review security footage in the parking lot.
Custodial huffing break
In the Akasofu building on Tuesday, March 1, a staff member noticed supplies missing from the custodial closet. Upon investigation, it was discovered that a GCA (UAF cleaning contractor) employee was using cleaning supplies for huffing. UAF contacted the company and the worker has been banned from UAF.
A UAF Police officer stopped a young woman on Wednesday, March 2, for a casual traffic violation and noticed four cans of compressed air sitting in her car. The officer also found marijuana and a pipe on her. She was then ordered to appear in court for possession of marijuana.
