During their last meeting of the school year the Associated Students of the University of Alaska Fairbanks resolved previously presented bills and discussed the future of the Senate. 

At their second-to-last meeting of the academic year, the Associated Students of the University of Alaska Fairbanks updated bills, bylaw sections and discussed the budget for fiscal year 2027.

Elections have wrapped up, a new leadership team is preparing for the next term, and the Associated Students of the University of Alaska Fairbanks discussed upcoming campus changes at their Tuesday meeting.

The Associated Students of the University of Alaska Fairbanks were busy during this week’s meeting discussing upcoming elections, updates to the committee structure and stipends for senators. They also addressed rumors about the student government.

After a week‑long spring break, the ASUAF Senate met on Tuesday to discuss the retention of three senators, funding approvals and upcoming campus events.

ASUAF held their last meeting before break on March 3. One hot topic was the unresolved cross country team’s usage of the SRC track and travel fund requests.  

At their weekly meeting on February 17, the Associated Students of the University of Alaska Fairbanks, or ASUAF, discussed a bill reflecting changes to Title IX, ASUAF’s role in a bowling match on Giving Day, and eight different travel funding requests. It was decided that the February 25 ASUAF meeting would be canceled because some senators will be in Juneau; the next one will take place on March 3.

At their weekly meeting on Feb. 10, the Associated Students of the University of Alaska Fairbanks, or ASUAF, discussed changes they aim to add to Title IX training for the fall, students being allowed to vote in academic appeals committees and imposing a two-hour cutoff of ASUAF senate meetings.

The Associated Students of the University of Alaska Fairbanks, or ASUAF, discussed a resolution regarding the UAF track and cross country team using the Student Recreation Center, or SRC, at their Feb. 3 meeting. They also discussed a resolution for the creation of a UAF pep band, and two bills: one for a scholarship for Giving Day, and another sponsoring a lunch for the Nanook Olympics.

The Associated Students of the University of Alaska Fairbanks, ASUAF, discussed concerns about the UAF cross country team using the Student Recreation Center, school funding, schedule planner updates, and travel funds at their Jan. 27 meeting.

The Associated Students of the University of Alaska Fairbanks, ASUAF, discussed finances, AI art, the use of American Sign Language and appointed six new senators at their recent meeting.

Closing out the semester and sending us off into the holidays, ASUAF held their last meeting and went over the final guest speakers and travel fund requests of the fall semester.

For those who cannot go home for the holidays this year, the Associated Students at University of Alaska Fairbanks, or ASUAF, and the Honors College, came together to make sure that students could still celebrate with their friends.

ASUAF and the Honors College hosted a Friendsgiving event on November 20th in the Great Hall, which was open to any UAF student.

The ASUAF meeting began with Owen Guthrie, vice chancellor of student affairs and enrollment management, coming in to talk and answer questions regarding the new student enrollment deposit. 

Starting with the class of fall 2026, students will be asked to pay a deposit on their enrollment for the coming fall. Already enrolled students will not be affected by this deposit.

The Associate Students of the University of Alaska Fairbanks senate met for their first November weekly meeting to discuss a variety of topics on their docket, including some guest speakers and several travel fund requests.

For their first October meeting, the Associated Students of the University of Alaska Fairbanks senate met to discuss a variety of topics including funding for student travel, Friendsgiving at the honors house, supporting athletics at West Valley High School, advocating for student mental health, and increasing accessibility for the deaf community at UAF. 

Capping off a busy month of discussions and decisions, the Associated Students of the University of Alaska Fairbanks senate addressed a wide range of student concerns throughout September that includes accessibility, residence life, rural outreach, mental health services, dining, and student funding.
